Reiki

The Japanese word ‘reiki’ (Ray Key) can be translated as ‘universal life energy’ and the Usui System is a way of working with reiki for healing of self and others. The word healing is used in the sense of regaining harmony and wholeness. Usui Shiki Ryoho addresses the whole person on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Reiki is based on “Qi” the life force or animating energy of a person. This life force has been understood by many cultures throughout the ages. Our “Qi” or “Prana” is at the heart of many eastern practices such as acupuncture, Qi Gong, and Yoga. Our life “Qi” (chi) flows within our bodies through pathways such as meridians and chakras and nourishes our cells, organs, and supports their vital functions.

Reiki helps activate the balance and natural healing energy across your body that can be depleted due to stress, poor diet, emotional strain, or physical issues. Reiki sessions, unless with our massage therapist, are conducted fully clothed. Hospitals, including our local hospital, are using Reiki practitioners to help cancer patients with the difficulties that can arise from chemo.
